How to Remove Chewing Gum Stains
Its fun to chew gum but gum stains can really burst your bubble. As business owners we know that gum on the sidewalks create stains that are not only unsightly, but difficult to remove. Here are some secrets for gum removal on household items: (i.e. surfaces such as acrylic plastic, aluminum, asphalt, paint/flat, paint/gloss, plexiglass, polyurethane, or vinyl clothing):
1) Freeze until gum gets hard.
2) Carefully scrape or rub the substance from the surface.
3) With a clean cloth dipped in warm sudsy water, wipe the surface until all traces of the gum have been removed.
4) Rinse well and wipe dry.
But of course, for commercial gum removal, the best method to get rid of stubborn and ugly looking gum stains on surfaces is pressure washing. Pressure washing has proven to be efficient and time saver when removing dried up gum stains in public places like streets, parkade, and sidewalks. It isn’t as easy as just pressure washing them away however. It takes a certain know how and ability to get it as clean as possible.
